Hi, I am Veena. Born and brought up in Bangalore.

I am a food freak ;-) …….. and just ♥ cooking, cook myself to satisfy my taste buds….

SIMPLE VEGETABLE BIRIYANI

Ingredients Required For 3 people:

  1. Rice – 250 grams
  2. Oil/Ghee – 8 tbsp
  3. Spices (Cloves, Cinnamon, Elaichi, Bay leaves) – 2 each
  4. Jeera, Mustard seeds – Each 1/2 tsp
  5. Green chillies – 2
  6. Onion (sliced lengthwise) – 2 (big)
  7. Ginger Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  8. Mixed vegetables (Carrot, beans, capsicum, potato, cauliflower) -1 to 1.5 cups
  9. Pudina – 1 cup
  10. Coriander – 1/2 cup
  11. Green peas – 100g
  12. Grated Paneer (optional) – 1/2 cup
  13. Tomoto (chopped) – 2 (big)
  14. Salt – 1 1/2 tbsp
  15. Chilly powder – 1 tbsp
  16. Garam Masala powder – 1/2 tsp
  17. Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
  18. Water – twice the quantity of rice
  19. Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  20. Aginomoto – 1 tsp

Preparation Method (To be cooked in a pressure cooker):

  1. Add the oil/ghee into the cooker. Allow it to get heated.
  2. Add the spices, mustard seeds, green chillies and jeera, saute for a min.
  3. Add the cut onions, saute it until the color turns pink.
  4. Add the vegetables, green peas, paneer and fry in the oil/ghee for 2-3 min.
  5. Add the pudina and coriander leaves.
  6. Add salt, turmeric powder, chilly powder, garam masala powder and fry until the chilly powder smell has gone.
  7. Add the water, bring it to boil. Then add the lemon juice and aginomoto.
  8. Wash the rice and immediately add it to the boiling gravy.
  9. Cook for 1 whistle, and then sim the gas for 4-5 min.
  10. Then Switch off the gas, allow the pressure to run down and Enjoy the Vegetable Biriyani.
